"Kimmy Schmidt," "Transparent" get Gotham Awards noms

PanARMENIAN.Net - "Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt" and "Transparent" are joining the race at this year's Gotham Awards. The two shows are among nominees for Breakthrough Series - Long Form which has been added to the annual award event along with another category to honor web content, AceShowbiz reports.

Joana Vicente, executive director of the Independent Filmmaker Project (IFP) which conducts the Gotham Awards, says in a statement, "We are thrilled this year to include creators working in serialized content, where so much innovative and risk-taking work now thrives."

She adds, "As we have for many years in film, the IFP Gotham Awards now shines a spotlight on the bold, creative and diverse visions represented through the nominees. This is a particularly exciting year, as 9 out of 10 of the inaugural nominated series were created by women and we are thrilled to be able to recognize their work."

Other TV series vying for the Breakthrough Series - Long Form title are "Jane the Virgin", "Mr. Robot" and "UnREAL".

"The Diary of a Teenage Girl" leads the pack of movie nominees with four nods, including Best Feature. The winners will be annnounced in a ceremony that will take place Monday, November 30 at Cipriani Wall Street in New York.
