Western Experts Start Discussion of Possible Military Coup in Turkey

PanARMENIAN.Net - The suspending of the talks between Turkey and the EU was expected and in fact happened what was to happen, Director of the Institute of Oriental Studies of the National Academy of Sciences of Armenia, doctor Ruben Safrastyan told a PanARMENIAN.Net reporter. However, in his words, Europe does not spurn Turkey one and for all. «The parties to talks face very serious issues. Either Europe has to compromise its values, which is rather hard to imagine, or Turkey has to fulfill Eurocommission demands. I need to highlight that Turkey is an important factor in international policy and EU and US apprehend abruptness of that country most. On the other hand, sudden activation of the Turkish General Staff is observed,» Safrastyan noted.

At that the Director of the Institute of Oriental Studies noted that the statement on ceasing military and technical cooperation with France was adopted exactly by the General Staff and it was not even made agree with the Turkish Government.

«Western experts already start discussing the opportunity of a military coup in Turkey. However, I believe speaking of it is still early,» Safrastyan underscored.
