Top robots showcased at Yerevan-hosted Ball of Robots exhibit

PanARMENIAN.Net - Yerevan hosted the opening ceremony of Bal Robotov (Ball of Robots) exhibition Tuesday, December 8.

For the first time in Armenia, Robots Inc. (Russia) presents the Ameriabank-initiated project, featuring the world’s most famous robots, in the country’s capital.

Mayor of Yerevan Taron Margaryan, prominent figures of Armenian robotics, artists, partners of the event and the Ameria group staff attended the opening ceremony.

Children were the honorary guests of the event, the opening ceremony becoming a real treat for them. Mika Varosyan, the runner-up of Junior Eurovision 2015 performed at the event.

The exhibition is housed in Yerevan Mall Trade Center. The expo area is decorated to create the atmosphere of a real roboworkshop and gives the children the opportunity not only to play with robots but get involved in construction and programming activities. Other entertainments include the dancing robot show, quadcopter zone, robolab, Lego brainstorming/robot building sessions, robot programming and robomarket. Education being one of the major goals of this project, special attention is paid to teaching at all levels, from selection of robots to excursions.

The exhibition features over 20 interactive robots from various countries as well as the best of Armenian robotics. The celebrated RoboThespian – a life-sized humanoid and one of the world’s most cutting-edge and emotional robots is among the exhibits.

The exhibit envisages special discount rates for children: AMD 2200 on weekdays and AMD 3300 on weekends. Meanwhile, tickets for adults will cost AMD 2900 and AMD 3900 respectively. Special rates for group school tours are also available.

Addressing the audience, Bal Robotov General Manager Igor Nikitin thanked Yerevan for hosting the exhibition, expressing hope that the event will discover new talents in the engineering technology sector. According to him, gifted people will always find a way for self-expression.

Bal Robotov co-founder Marina Levashova said, in turn, that they managed to unite education, research and entertainment through this project.

She noted that the event is aimed at the rebirth of engineering elite in Russia.

“This exhibition seeks to present latest innovations to children, at the same time unveiling the process of creation of robots,” Ameriabank General Manager Artak Hanesyan told reporters after the opening ceremony.

He noted charity to be another goal for the exhibition, with the majority of the proceeds set to be used for treating childhood leukemia in Armenia.

The exhibition will run through January 10 (closed days: December 31 and January 01).
