Michael Fassbender thriller “Snowman” release date set

PanARMENIAN.Net - Universal and Working Title have set Michael Fassbender‘s thriller “The Snowman” for release on Oct. 13, 2017, Variety reports.

The movie, based on Jo Nesbø’s best-seller, also stars Rebecca Ferguson (“Mission: Impossible — Rogue Nation”) and Charlotte Gainsbourg (“Independence Day: Resurgence”). Production will start Jan. 18 in Norway with “Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy” director Tomas Alfredson helming.

Variety first reported in September that Fassbender would play the role of the lead detective of an elite crime squad who investigates the disappearance of a victim on the first snow of winter and fears an elusive serial killer may be active again. Ferguson will portray a brilliant recruit as he attempts to connect decades-old cold cases to the brutal new one.

Nesbø’s novel was published in 2007.

Producers are Working Title’s Tim Bevan and Eric Fellner, along with Robyn Slovo and Piodor Gustafsson. Exec producers are Nesbø, Niclas Salomonsson, Martin Scorsese, Alfredson, Liza Chasin and Amelia Granger.

“The Snowman” will shoot entirely in Norway in the cities of Oslo and Bergen and the area of Rjukan. It’s the first title set for release in the U.S. on Oct. 13, 2017.
