Amy Winehouse's father slams director Asif Kapadia after Oscar win

PanARMENIAN.Net - Amy Winehouse's father slams Director Asif Kapadia after a documentary win, The Hollywood Reporter said.

"Always proud of my baby," tweeted Mitch Winehouse. "Amy will not get an oscar though. Just Asif Kapadia. That is what this is all about...Asif. He's fooled everybody."

Amy director Asif Kapadia may have dedicated his best documentary Oscar win to the "beautiful girl" that was the late Amy Winehouse. But Winehouse's father wasn't impressed.

Mitch Winehouse, who was highly critical of the documentary even before its first screening in Cannes, took to Twitter to attack Kapadia over his film, which he described as a "negative, spiteful and misleading portrayal" of his daughter.

Winehouse also claimed that Kapadia had "fooled everybody," and that the win was purely for benefit of the filmmaker. "That is what this is all about... Asif," he said.

Onstage in LA, Kapadia described Amy Winehouse as "funny, intelligent, witty — someone special, someone who needed looking after," saying that they "just wanted to make a film to show the world who she really was."

Producer James Gay-Rees added: "This is for Amy’s fans, who loved her through thick and thin."

The filmmaking duo have lined up another divisive subject for their next doc, one who might add his own voice to any objection over his portrayal: Diego Maradona.
