Karabakh conflict settlement must contain an agreement on status of Karabakh
"European structures should assist the peaceful solution of the Nagorno Karabakh conflict in accordance with international norms, including the right of people to self-determination," says the statement of Armenia-EU Parliamentary Cooperation Commission. Armen Roustamian, the Chairman of RA NA Standing Committee on Foreign Relations representing ARFD faction at the Armenian National Assembly, Co-Chair of Armenia-EU Parliamentary Cooperation Commission told to a press conference in Yerevan February 5 that the statement also stresses the necessity of reconciliation between Armenian and Azeri nations. Aiming at this goal, the document underlines the necessity to establish constructive cooperation based on good will and progressive views and reestablishing trade relations. The statement clearly indicates the possible directions of cooperation, that is-ecology, water resources, energy, education, border management and transportation. In order to fulfill the above-mentioned goals the necessity of efficient potential of parliamentary cooperation is underlined, Armen Roustamian told. Moreover, the document also stresses that the Nagorno Karabakh conflict settlement must also contain an agreement on the status of Nagorno Karabakh and the NKR must also be involved in the process of talks, the parliamentarian underscored. Roustamian also informed the statement underlines that it is necessary to continue to strengthen democracy and improve governing of the Nagorno Karabakh.

Asked what juridical consequences the document will have and if its words will just remain as "calls", Roustamian underlined that finally all such statements are passed to EU structures, which during examination of issues must take into account the above-mentioned approaches. "There are a lot of examples when a question was touched in our commission, which finally was realized," Roustamian noticed, IA Regnum reports.
