J.J. Abrams to produce “Dream Jumper” graphic novel adaptation

PanARMENIAN.Net - Greg Grunberg’s upcoming graphic novel, Dream Jumper, is getting the movie treatment, The Hollywood Reporter reveals.

Paramount has picked up movie rights to the two-part tome, with Grunberg teaming up with pal J.J. Abrams and his Bad Robot banner, which will produce the adaptation.

The story follows a boy who discovers he can jump into other people’s dreams. But that power turns into a nightmare, literally, when his friends begin falling into an endless sleep and something in the dream world wants the boy’s abilities for itself.

Grunberg co-wrote the book with Lucas Turnbloom, who also illustrated it. Scholastic will publish the first book on June 28.

Lindsey Weber of Bad Robot will produce with Abrams; however, it is unclear if the project will be live-action or animated.

No writer is onboard to adapt the material at this stage.

Grunberg, who recently was seen in NBC’s Heroes Reborn miniseries, has teamed up with Abrams several times, first appearing in the director-producer’s Felicity, then going on to pop up in Alias, Lost and movies such as Mission: Impossible III. Most recently, he cameoed in Abrams’ Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

Turnbloom is an award-winning cartoonist and illustrator who’s best known for his comic strip, Imagine THIS.
