Andrea Arnold’s Cannes Jury Prize winner “American Honey” sells out

PanARMENIAN.Net - Andrea Arnold’s “American Honey”, which competed at the Cannes Film Festival and won the Jury Prize, has now sold out. Protagonist Pictures, which was handling international sales on the film, has also revealed deals on other pics on its Cannes slate, Variety reports.

Further to the multi-territory deal closed at Cannes with Focus/Universal, the final remaining territory, Canada, sold to Elevation Pictures. Previously announced were sales to Diaphana for France, Cineart for Benelux, Sun Distribution for Latin America, Lev/Shani for Israel, Gutek for Poland, Front Row Entertainment for the Middle East, T Cast for Korea, Kurmaca for Turkey, MCF for Former Yugoslavian territories and Iqiyi for China.

Clio Barnard’s “Dark River,” her follow-up to the 2013 Cannes Directors’ Fortnight title “The Selfish Giant,” pre-sold to Ad Vitam for France, September Film for Benelux, Strada for Greece, and Front Row Entertainment for the Middle East. The film, which will star Ruth Wilson, goes into production later this month in the U.K.

Cannes Un Certain Regard title “The Transfiguration,” from first-time director Michael O’Shea, sold to Soda Pictures for the U.K. and Canada, Xenix for Switzerland, Bir for Turkey, and Front Row Entertainment in the Middle East; a U.S. sale is imminent. These sales were in addition to the pre-Cannes sale to ARP in France.

Oren Moverman’s “The Dinner,” starring Richard Gere, Laura Linney, Rebecca Hall and Steve Coogan, sold to Icon for Australia and New Zealand. The North American deal with The Orchard, negotiated by WME, was closed during Cannes.

Ben Wheatley’s “Free Fire” has sold the last of its key territories with Splendid Film taking German-speaking Europe, Benelux and Switzerland.

Entertainment One snapped up rights for the U.K., Canada and Australia/New Zealand on Richard Loncraine’s romantic comedy “Finding Your Feet,” which will star BAFTA award-winning British actress and Oscar nominee Imelda Staunton.
