Amazon rolls out lighter, thinner KindleJune 23, 2016 - 11:30 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Just two months after Amazon reinvented the book with its high-end Kindle Oasis, it's returned to offer an update to its entry-level e-readers, Digital Spy reports. The new base model is the first update to the company's most affordable e-reader in two years, also becoming the first Kindle to come with a white colour option since the Kindle Keyboard back in 2010. The Kindle Paperwhite, Amazon's $163 option, is also set to become available in white, with both units available for pre-order today ahead of release next month. The $89 Kindle boasts double the memory of its previous model, also making Apple proud with its ability to offer more power while simultaneously becoming thinner and lighter. Unlike the 2014 model, this Kindle features a rounded design to make one-handed reading easier and Bluetooth audio support for accessibility. The update does not have the 300 ppi screen of the Kindle Paperwhite, though. The innovations aren't mind-blowing, but it's an attractive refresher that could push owners of older models to update, or finally pull in those holding out for a white colour option, Digital Spy said.
