“Hot Tub Time Machine” helmer to direct “Rent a Hero”

PanARMENIAN.Net - “Hot Tub Time Machine” director Steve Pink has signed on to write and direct “Rent a Hero,” a film adaptation of the Sega video game title, Variety reports.

“Rent a Hero” centers on a reluctant slacker genius who joins a high-tech pitched as an “Uber for Heroes” aimed to improve people’s daily lives at an affordable price. But when company insiders plan to weaponize the tech, the slacker and his fellow “Rent a Heroes” band together to stop them.

Tomoya Suzuki, President and CEO of Stories International, is producing. Stories International is the U.S.-based joint venture production arm of Sega and ad agency Hakuhodo DY Group. Evan J. Cholfin of Stories International will oversee the project and executive produce.

Pink will write the project with Jeff Morris, who wrote the upcoming Netflix action adventure “The True Memoirs of an International Assassin,” starring Kevin James.

Pink’s writing credits include “High Fidelity” and “Grosse Pointe Blank.”

“As Sega fans, we are excited to dive unto the near future with these Rent a Heroes and explore what it means to be an everyday hero in a comedic high-energy action adventure,” Pink said.
