Armenia seeks to increase natural gas supply from Iran

PanARMENIAN.Net - Armenia’s Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan applied to Iran to increase the imported gas volumes, the government’s press service said.

In a phone conversation, Abrahamyan and Iran’s first vice president Eshaq Jahangiri hailed the relations between the two neighboring countries, also weighing in on a wide range of issues of further economic cooperation.

Abrahamyan raised the issue of increasing the volume of gas imported from Iran, stating that natural gas supply from Russia to Armenia has been temporarily stopped from July 10 to August 10 for carrying out renovation work in the damaged parts of the pipeline in Georgia.

The Iranian side responded positively to the Armenian side’s proposal, the government said.

Also, the officials discussed other issues of mutual interest.
