Google Duo replacing Hangouts as the Android pre-install of choice

Google Duo replacing Hangouts as the Android pre-install of choice

PanARMENIAN.Net - When Google announced it was finally giving Android users a video calling service, it was a more-than-welcome change.

In between launching the Pixel, video calling has always been a bit of a talking point for Android users. Let's remind ourselves of the fact that Google only recently made video calling on Hangouts for Android possible two years after iOS. But even with the new change, it appears the all-new Hangouts is being usurped by Duo.

While Duo hasn't been particularly revolutionary in the Android world, it looks like that's about to change, Digital Spy said.

Google's new Duo video calling app has now been added to the package of core apps that all manufacturers have to install on any Android if you want to access Google Play.

Not only that, but it's set to budge out Google Hangouts, and replace it in the compulsory package. In doing so, it will become the default video calling app for Android users.

But if this change fills you with unease, you can relax... a bit at least. Hangouts is still sticking around and Google will still be developing it. However, now if you want to use Hangouts, you'll have to go through all that extra effort of downloading and installing it, Digital Spy said.
