Tilda Swinton is favorite to replace Peter Capaldi as Doctor WhoFebruary 18, 2017 - 11:52 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - After the White Witch ("The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader") and Ancient One ("Doctor Strange"), Tilda Swinton could be the Time Lord next. Words are, the Academy Award-winning actress is now a favorite to replace Peter Capaldi as Doctor Who. As AceShowbiz reports citing Daily Mail, TV insiders are saying that Swinton will be the 13th Doctor. She has now become the bookies' favorite to replace Capaldi in the iconic role, with British bookmakers Ladbrokes slashing her odds to 7/2, ahead of previous rumored Capaldi replacements such as Kris Marshall, Olivia Colman and Ben Whishaw. Former "Doctor Who" star Paul McGann is among those who are rooting for Swinton to be the new Doctor. He posted on Twitter a picture of the actress wearing strange clown makeup and wrote, "Imagine Capaldi regenerating into..." There have been urges that the show features a female Doctor Who after Capaldi's exit. Executive producer Steven Moffat seemed to agree with this idea as saying, "I think the next time might be a female Doctor. I don't see why not." Capaldi announced earlier this year that the upcoming tenth season of the sci-fi series will be his last. "I suppose the big thing about [the new series] is it'll be my last," he said during a BBC Radio 2 interview. "This will be the end for me. I feel sad, I love 'Doctor Who'. It's a fantastic programme to work on. It's been a huge pleasure to work with... a family, I can't praise the people I work with more highly," he explained. "I've never worked the same job for three years and I feel like now is the right time to move on. [But] I'll still be the Doctor for a while," Capaldi added. "There's never been anything more special to me," he admitted. The new season of "Doctor Who" premieres Saturday, April 15 on BBC.
