Russian peacekeepers restore Patriotic War memorial in Karabakh

PanARMENIAN.Net - Russian peacekeepers, together with the residents of the Nagorno-Karabakh village of Nyuragyugh, have restored a monument to the soldiers who died during the Great Patriotic War, Zvezda TV reports.

During the war against the Nazis, more than 90 local men gave their lives for the freedom of the Soviet people. In memory of their feat in the 1960s, a monument was erected.

During restoration, the Russian troops and local residents, cleaned the territory and the monument, and painted the fence.

“The campaign was born due to the fact that a number of memorials located on the territory of Nagorno-Karabakh need repair or restoration. In the future, [the project] will last until the 76th anniversary of the Great Victory, ”said Igor Sivakov, head of the Humanitarian Response Center.

The Center has identified a total 58 monuments dedicated to soldiers who fell in 1941-1945. So far, 29 monuments have been restored.
