Russian Ambassador to Armenia on a working trip to Syunik

PanARMENIAN.Net - Russian Ambassador to Armenia Sergei Kopyrkin is on a working trip to the southern province of Syunik, the Facebook page of the Russian Embassy.

Kopyrkin is visiting the region to learn more about the service of the Russian and Armenian border guards in the area, as well as about the specifics of the tasks performed by the employees of the Border Guard Service of the Federal Security Service (FSB) of Russia.

Kapan Mayor Gevorg Parsyan met the Russian ambassador and detailed the current socio-economic situation in the city. The mayor also expressed gratitude to Russia for the involvement of border guards in ensuring security in the region.

On the morning of May 12, the armed forces of Azerbaijan violated the border of Armenia in the southern province of Syunik, advancing 3.5 kilometers and surrounding Sev Lake, which is situated on the border between the two countries but is predominantly a part of Armenia. On May 13, the Azerbaijani military committed more border violations against Armenia, advancing near Vardenis (Gegharkunik province) and Sisian (Syunik province). One Armenian serviceman was killed in Azerbaijan’s shooting on May 25, while six others were captured on May 27.
