U.S. French, Russian ambassadors reject Azerbaijan's Shushi invitation

PanARMENIAN.Net - The ambassadors of the United States, France and Russia have rejected the invitation of the Azerbaijani government to visit the Nagorno-Karabakh city of Shushi, which came under Baku's control during the 44-day war in fall 2020, Haqqin.az reports.

Ambassadors of 46 countries, however, did accept the invitation and were pictured taking selfies near the iconic Holy Savior Ghazanchetsots Cathedral, which was targeted by Azerbaijan's precision guided missiles twice within an hour.

Russia, France and the United States co-chair the OSCE Minsk Group, which is mandated to help the parties settle the conflict peacefully.

A photo from the trip published by the government reveals, meanwhile, that Ghazanchetsots Cathedral is being “restored” back to its “original look” of a beheaded dome, which was a result of the 1920 pogrom of Shushi.

Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, Russian and Azerbaijani Presidents Vladimir Putin and Ilham Aliyev on November 9 signed a statement to end the war in Karabakh after almost 45 days. Under the deal, the Armenian side has returned all the seven regions surrounding Nagorno-Karabakh, having lost a part of Karabakh itself in hostilities.
