EU Special Representative visits Agdam – now under Azeri control

PanARMENIAN.Net - EU Special Representative for the South Caucasus and the crisis in Georgia Toivo Klaar visited Agdam on Friday, September 17, local media report.

Agdam came under Baku's control after the Second Karabakh War, when Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, Russian and Azerbaijani Presidents Vladimir Putin and Ilham Aliyev signed a statement to end the hostilities after almost 45 days. Under the deal, the Armenian side returned all the seven regions surrounding Nagorno-Karabakh, including AgdamKlaar arrived in Azerbaijan on September 15. Before that, he spent two days in Armenia and held meetings, having lost a part of Karabakh itself in hostilities.

Klaar arrived in Azerbaijan on September 15. Before that, he spent two days in Armenia and held meetings with Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, Deputy Prime Minister Mher Grigoryan, and Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan.

While in Armenia, Klaar visited Yeraskh, a community in Ararat province, and learnt "how close" the Armenian and Azerbaijani positions often are.
