Armenian pilgrims visit Amaras monastery near Karabakh contact line

PanARMENIAN.Net - Pilgrims from Armenia and Nagorno-Karabakh, accompanied by Russian peacekeepers, have visited the Armenian monastery of Amaras, which is situated close to the new contact line with Azerbaijan, the Russian Defense Ministry reports.

The peacekeepers ensured the safety of the pilgrims to the site of worship which holds a special place in the hearts of Armenians worldwide.

"The peacekeeping forces have deployed on the territory of the monastery in order to ensure security and avoid unnecessary provocations or attempts to renew the conflict," said a representative of the Russian peacekeeping contingent, Alexander Mironov.

Russian peacekeepers also used to accompany Armenian pilgrims to the medieval Armenian monastery of Dadivank, which came under Azerbaijan's control following the 44-day war in Karabakh in fall 2020. The site is currently unavailable to Armenian believers.
