Armenia, CSTO mull mechanisms for stabilizing border situation

PanARMENIAN.Net - Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan had a phone conversation with CSTO Secretary General Stanislav Zas on Thursday, November 18 and stressed that Azerbaijan has launched a fresh aggression against the sovereign territory of Armenia.

Mirzoyan said that since the signing of the trilateral statement on November 9, 2020, the Azerbaijani authorities with their provocative actions have been undermining the security and stability and Armenia's efforts aimed at de-escalating the situation in the region.

The two also considered possible steps within the CSTO mechanisms and instruments for stabilizing the situation in the eastern border section of Armenia.

In clashes launched by Azerbaijan on November 16, the Armenian side has confirmed 6 deaths, while 13 soldiers have been captured by Azerbaijan. Two combat positions too have gone under the control of Azeri forces, 24 Armenian troops have gone missing.
