Georgia protests against use of its flag at Moscow meeting it didn't attend

PanARMENIAN.Net - The Georgian Foreign Ministry considers the use of the country's flag at recent regional consultations on the South Caucasus in Moscow "unacceptable", given that no representative from Georgia participated in the meeting, Sputnik Georgia reports.

The proposed regional platform, initially dubbed "3+3", was supposed to serve as a cooperation mechanism between Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Iran, Russia and Turkey. However, Georgia has already opted out of it, and the mechanism is now referred to as "3+2".

The first meeting of the platform was held on December 10 in Moscow under the co-chairmanship of the Deputy Foreign Ministers of Russia, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Turkey and the Director General of the Iranian Foreign Ministry. The Russian Foreign Ministry noted that "the representatives of Georgia, who were also invited, refrained from participating in the meeting."

"The Georgian side has repeatedly stated its clear position on the "3+3" regional format , we will not discuss Georgia's participation in this format. The meeting in Moscow on December 10 featured the Georgian flag, which, of course, is unacceptable for us. We have responded through the appropriate diplomatic channels," a statement from the Georgian Foreign Ministry said.
