PanARMENIAN.Net - CSTO Secretary General Stanislav Zas has informed the Chairman of the Collective Security Council, Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan about the situation in Kazakhstan, the CSTO press service reports.

Zas reported on the details of the implementation of the decision of the Collective Security Council aimed at normalizing the situation in Kazakhstan.

"Stanislav Zas also reported on the progress in resolving organizational issues in the dispatch of the Collective Peacekeeping Forces of the CSTO to the country. At present, the transfer of peacekeeping contingents by military transport aircraft of the Russian Aerospace Forces continues," the message says.

Armenia has sent 100 peacekeepers to Kazakhstan as part of a CSTO contingent deployed to the country amid unrest in major cities. Throughout the mission, the Armenian peacekeeping unit will only protect buildings and infrastructures of strategic importance, the Defense Ministry said.

Protesters stormed government buildings in Almaty on January 5 and fought running battles with police and the military, with officials saying 748 security officers were wounded and 18 killed, including two had been decapitated.
