Yerevan explosion death toll rises to 16

PanARMENIAN.Net - Rescuers have recovered 16 bodies from the site of a strong explosion in the Armenian capital of Yerevan as of Tuesday, August 16 evening.

Blasts ripped through a warehouse storing fireworks at the Surmalu market in Yerevan on Sunday, causing parts of the building to collapse and injuring dozens of people.

Hundreds of rescue workers, firefighters and volunteers have been engaged at the scene since the first moments of the tragedy. Still, eight people remain missing, the Emergencies Ministry said Monday.
