Karabakh officials, MEP meet in Yerevan to discuss Karabakh blockade

PanARMENIAN.Net - Deputy Foreign Minister of Nagorno Karabakh (Artsakh) Felix Khachatryan, Advisor to the Minister of State Artak Beglaryan and Ombudsman Gegham Stepanyan met with the Member of the European Parliament François-Xavier Bellamy in Yerevan on Sunday, February 12, Stepanyan said on Facebook.

Stepanyan said he thanked Bellamy for a European Parliament resolution demanding that Azerbaijan unblock the Lachin corridor, as well as for his support for the rights, freedom and security of the people of Artsakh.

“We discussed the humanitarian problems caused by the blockade and ways to overcome them, as well as various actions to be taken in the direction of countering Azerbaijan's criminal policy,” Stepanyan added.

Since December 12, the sole road connecting Nagorno Karabakh to Armenia - the Lachin Corridor - has been blocked by self-described Azerbaijani environmentalists. Karabakh residents have reported food and fuel shortages, while hospital patients don't have access to essential medicines, with only a handful allowed transfer to facilities in Armenia proper.
