Armenia registered jobs grew 32% over past 5 years

PanARMENIAN.Net - The number of registered jobs in the country has grown by about 32% – or by more than 173,000 – over the past 5 years, official data shows.

Growth slowed during the pandemic and the 44-day war and recovered afterwards. Said 173,000 new jobs include not only newly opened jobs, but also those that used to be part of the shadow economy.

As for the dynamics by industry, most of the jobs were opened not in the IT sector but in the manufacturing industry. In part, industrial activity is supported by the production of cement, fittings for construction, and in part by a large-scale purchase of new equipment.

In terms of job growth, the industry has overtaken construction, the hotel industry and the entertainment industry combined. A significant increase in agriculture is due to the emergence of new agricultural facilities (including greenhouses and large intensive gardens). In the utilities sector, meanwhile, jobs have shrunk. Operators are cutting inspectors by organizing the process online.
