Pashinyan links security to “standing on lines of legitimacy”

PanARMENIAN.Net - Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said that Armenia should “stand on the lines of its legitimacy to ensure its security”.

Pashinyan made the remarks in a video he published on Telegram on Monday, April 8.

"When we say security, the first thing we say is the army. We should say the army at the end, because when the army enters the room, it means everything is over and it is the army’s turn to work,” Pashinyan said.

“In order to ensure our security, we must stand on the lines of our legitimacy. And the line of our legitimacy is our internationally recognized border, so that no one has a chance to justify an attack against us.”

Pashinyan’s comments come weeks after he met with the residents of border villages in the northern Tavush province and said that Armenia will have to surrender territory to Baku. A week earlier, Pashinyan had signaled his readiness to accept Baku’s demands for Armenian withdrawal from four villages. He did not make their handover conditional on the liberation of any Armenian territory occupied by Azerbaijani forces in the early 1990s and 2021-2022.
