Minister says scientists' salaries doubled since 2021

PanARMENIAN.Net - Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, addressing the government session, announced that as of January 2025, scientists' salaries have increased. He cited the example of a laboratory engineer whose salary before the certification system was 67,300 AMD but has now risen to 138,300 AMD.

Minister of Education, Science, Culture, and Sports Zhanna Andreasyan stated that starting January 1, 2025, scientific salaries have been standardized according to the current certification system. As a result, wages have at least doubled compared to 2021, with some positions even seeing a fourfold increase.

The salary of a senior laboratory engineer, which was 76,000 AMD, has gradually increased and now stands at 179,000 AMD as of January 1, 2025.

It was also noted that a senior researcher who earned 99,000 AMD in 2021 now receives 343,000 AMD. The salary of a leading researcher has increased from 114,300 AMD in 2021 to 443,800 AMD, while a chief researcher, who previously earned 138,100 AMD, now receives 552,900 AMD.

Andreasyan also highlighted that 2023 saw a record number of scientific publications in internationally recognized journals.

She added that the volume of scientific publications has been growing year by year.
