New bill aims to ease restrictions on dual citizens![]() February 5, 2025 - 15:57 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - A legislative initiative introduced by the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) would allow dual citizens to use a foreign driver’s license for one month while driving in Armenia, Armenpress reports. MP Garnik Danielyan stated that many Javakhk Armenians with Georgian passports and licenses are being fined when driving in Armenia. He noted on Facebook that numerous Javakhk Armenians had contacted him to raise concerns about the issue. According to Danielyan, many Javakhk Armenians have obtained dual citizenship in recent years but continue to enter Armenia with Georgian passports and driver’s licenses. As a result, Armenia’s patrol service fines them under the current legal framework. MIA spokesperson Narek Sargsyan confirmed that the issue is known to the ministry. "A legislative initiative is currently under review that would allow dual citizens to drive in Armenia with a foreign driver’s license for one month," Sargsyan stated. ![]() ![]() As a result of floods in Armenia’s northern Lori and Tavush provinces, 17 bridges, including five large ones, have collapsed.
