Еx-finance minister urgently needs surgery in Germany![]() May 30, 2025 - 15:52 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Gagik Khachatryan, former head of the State Revenue Committee and ex-Minister of Finance of Armenia, has been confirmed to require urgent surgery in Germany, based on forensic medical findings. During the May 30 court session, Judge Givi Hovhannisyan read out the expert conclusion confirming the necessity of prompt surgical intervention abroad, according to Pastinfo. Though the court had approved Khachatryan’s travel for surgery back on April 4, he was implicated in a separate criminal case shortly afterward. As a result, a travel ban was imposed, preventing him from leaving the country for the procedure. Khachatryan stands accused of embezzlement, bribery, and money laundering involving $41 million. The prosecution has demanded the confiscation of property from Khachatryan and 25 affiliated individuals, including 210 real estate units—60 of which are located in Yerevan—along with 14 vehicles, shares in 33 companies, and over 40 billion drams.
