Analyst: PM seeks chaos, must be isolated![]() May 31, 2025 - 14:18 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Vahe Hovhannisyan, a member of the Alternative Projects Group, wrote that Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan’s recent statements have “shocked all normal people,” and urged society to respond not with emotion but with a strategic approach. He proposed preparing to bring “hundreds of thousands” to the streets and called for a policy of “zero contact” with Pashinyan and his inner circle: “No dialogue, no expectations, no proposals. That’s how we shrink his space to act.” Hovhannisyan argued that the Prime Minister, knowing he has no chance of re-election, is instead trying to change the rules and create a toxic atmosphere. “He’ll try to drive the country into madness. Thinking people must understand and stop this.” He stressed that a unified message of total rejection is essential for effective resistance. Despite some continuing to show respect or attend official events, Hovhannisyan said this behavior is inertia that will shift once clear signals come from public and political elites. “In all countries, people hit the streets in response to such degradation. We must prepare for mass mobilization — to defend the Armenian Apostolic Church, to defend ourselves, and to defend a dignified society based on moral values,” he concluded. Prime Minister Pashinyan recently faced backlash after comparing churches to storage rooms and making offensive remarks toward clergy on social media. He also stated that the state should play a decisive role in electing the Catholicos of All Armenians. ![]() ![]() As a result of floods in Armenia’s northern Lori and Tavush provinces, 17 bridges, including five large ones, have collapsed.
