Iranians cross into Armenia amid Israel conflict

PanARMENIAN.Net - The intensifying conflict between Iran and Israel has led to a noticeable increase in the number of Iranian citizens entering Armenia through the Meghri border checkpoint.

According to eyewitness accounts, local taxi drivers have significantly raised their fares. Aravot.am reports that "while the trip from Meghri to Yerevan used to cost around 40,000 drams, it now doesn’t go for less than 100,000 drams," one source said.

Residents also report that traveling from Kapan to Yerevan has become more difficult due to a shortage of available vehicles.

Authorities are working to address the transportation issues.

On the night of June 13, Israel launched military operations against Iran, accusing Tehran of advancing a covert nuclear weapons program, which according to Tel Aviv, is approaching the "point of no return." Israeli strikes have reportedly targeted nuclear facilities, high-ranking generals, prominent nuclear physicists, air bases, air defense systems, and surface-to-surface missiles.

Iran denies any military dimension to its nuclear program and has responded with missile attacks and the use of combat drones. Tehran claims it is targeting Israel’s military and defense industry infrastructure.

The two countries continue to exchange strikes several times a day. Tel Aviv has vowed to continue its campaign until Iran’s nuclear program is entirely destroyed, while Tehran threatens ongoing missile retaliation as long as Israeli bombardments persist.
