RPA member: Macron’s support for Pashinyan harms Armenia

PanARMENIAN.Net - Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) board member Eduard Sharmazanov expressed on Facebook that French President Emmanuel Macron’s support for Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan is “weighing heavily on Armenia and the Armenian people.”

“In October 2022, Macron welcomed Pashinyan’s recognition of Artsakh as part of Azerbaijan. As a result, since December 2022, Azerbaijan blockaded Artsakh. Eventually, in September–October 2023, Artsakh was completely depopulated,” Sharmazanov wrote.

He criticized Macron’s latest statement, in which the French president said, “Signing a peace treaty between Armenia and Azerbaijan as soon as possible can open a new page.”

Sharmazanov responded: “A new page is opening, but it’s for Armenia’s vassalization.”

He also reacted to Macron’s recent call for swift signing of a peace treaty between Armenia and Azerbaijan, framing it as harmful to Armenian sovereignty.
