Armenia’s foreign trade turnover drops 45% in H1 2025

PanARMENIAN.Net - Foreign trade turnover in Armenia for January–June 2025 amounted to $9 billion 668.6 million, marking a 45 % drop compared to the same period in 2024, according to Armenpress.

During the first half of 2025, exports totaled $3 billion 755.6 million, a 52.8 % decrease, while imports reached $5 billion 913 million, down 38.6 % year‑on‑year.

In June, foreign trade increased 9.4 % from May but was still 16.6 % lower than in June 2024. June exports amounted to $729.8 million, up 23.6 % from May yet 15.9 % below June 2024 levels. Imports in June reached $1 billion 1.7 million, rising 0.9 % from May but declining 17.1 % year‑on‑year.

The average exchange rate of the Armenian dram against the U.S. dollar was AMD 391.31 during January–June, and AMD 384.22 in June.

Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexey Overchuk said that at the April meeting in Altai between Armenian and Russian prime ministers, the decline in bilateral trade was a central issue. He added that Russia is concerned about the trade drop and discussed measures to improve conditions.
