Opposition MP recovers phone seized amid terrorism probe

PanARMENIAN.Net - The Investigative Committee returned opposition Hayastan bloc MP Gegham Manukyan’s phone on July 31, according to Azatutyun.

Three weeks earlier, the phone had been seized by National Security Service officers and then handed over to investigators during the arrest of seven individuals suspected of preparing terrorist acts. Among those detained was Manukyan’s son, Taron.

Authorities searched an apartment owned by the MP, where his son lives. Several items were seized, including belongings of the MP himself, who was present at the time. Manukyan claims his phone was taken from him by force.

The Investigative Committee later stated that the seizure occurred as part of a criminal investigation into the alleged preparation of terrorism and that they had a warrant to search the apartment.

In letters to Prosecutor General Anna Vardapetyan, ARF member Manukyan demanded the return of his personal item and punishment for those responsible.
