Armenia’s flower exports more than double in 2025: Minister

PanARMENIAN.Net - Armenia significantly increased flower exports in the first seven months of 2025, according to Economy Minister Gevorg Papoyan’s post on Facebook.

“As of August 3, 2025, compared with the same period last year, 2.3 times more tons of flowers have been exported (measured mainly in tons). Specifically, if last year it was only 519 tons, this year it is 1,217 tons.

There has also been a 15% increase in the number of individual flowers exported (measured in pieces in some cases). Specifically, last year it was 41.8 thousand pieces, while this year it exceeds 48 thousand,” Papoyan wrote.

In June, Russia’s Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance (Rosselkhoznadzor) almost completely blocked flower imports from Armenia, citing the discovery of thrips (pest insects). Following negotiations with Armenia’s Food Safety Inspection Body, Rosselkhoznadzor began inspecting local flower greenhouses online.

Summarizing the meeting between Rosselkhoznadzor head Sergey Dankvert and Armenia’s Food Safety Inspection Body head Tigran Petrosyan, the Russian service reported that Armenia had increased fruit and vegetable supplies to Russia by 1.5 times since the beginning of the year — reaching 103.4 thousand tons compared to 69.6 thousand tons in the same period last year — and had boosted cut flower supplies by 47%, to over 71.1 million pieces from 48.5 million pieces.
