Investigation into Rubik Hakobyan case completed

PanARMENIAN.Net - The General Department for Investigation of Crimes against the State, the Constitutional Order, and Public Security of Armenia’s Investigative Committee has completed the pretrial investigation in the criminal case concerning Rubik Hakobyan’s alleged public calls for the seizure of power.

During the investigation, Hakobyan faced public criminal prosecution under Part 2 of Article 422 of the Criminal Code (public calls for the seizure of power, violation of territorial integrity, renunciation of sovereignty, or violent overthrow of the constitutional order). Detention was applied as a preventive measure.

The case, with an indictment, has been sent to the supervising prosecutor.

Earlier, his lawyer Grigor Mghdesyan said that Hakobyan had refused to testify.

Hakobyan was arrested on July 18, 2025, for allegedly making such public calls during a July 1 media interview. On July 19, he was remanded in custody for two months.
