Bayramov urges equal EU support for Armenia, Azerbaijan

Bayramov urges equal EU support for Armenia, Azerbaijan

PanARMENIAN.Net - Azerbaijan’s Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov has stated that the European Union is ready to allocate €20 million to Armenia and emphasized the importance of providing the same amount to Azerbaijan, APA reports.

He recalled a previous similar case involving the European Peace Facility when €10 million was allocated to Armenia.

“There were countries that stated that if support is provided to some states, then it should also be extended to Azerbaijan. Hungary expressed such a principled stance,” Bayramov noted.

He said Azerbaijan received €10 million as well, but not from the Peace Facility, as those funds were sourced elsewhere and used for demining efforts.

“According to our information, the EU plans to provide €20 million to Armenia, and it is important that the same amount is allocated to Azerbaijan. Work in this direction will continue. Our Hungarian partners support us in this matter and will continue to do so,” Bayramov said.

In July 2024, Armenia received €10 million to establish a field modular camp. In March 2025, Armenia submitted a second request for support from the fund. Hungary blocked the decision. Hungarian Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó confirmed the veto, saying they were not against helping Armenia, but insisted that equal support should be given to Azerbaijan.
