The U.S. Embassy in Armenia had previously announced this measure. According to a message posted on social media platform X, “The State Department is halting the issuance of immigrant entry visas for 75 countries whose migrants excessively burden the U.S. social welfare system.” The restriction applies exclusively to immigrant visas. The measure affects not only citizens of Armenia, Georgia, Azerbaijan, and Russia, but also those from Iran, Iraq, Brazil, Egypt, Thailand, and others. Grigoryan added that the situation around the world and particularly in the region is very difficult. The Armenian Defense Ministry has denied Azerbaijan's accusations of violating the ceasefire.
