Latvian Foreign Minister Baiba Braže said Latvia welcomes the peace process between Armenia and Azerbaijan.

Speaking at the Antalya Diplomatic Forum, she noted that signing a peace agreement would open new opportunities for closer cooperation with Europe, including in connectivity, Trend.az reports.

“Latvia fully supports the process of normalizing relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan. We see continued constructive engagement by the parties and consider it important that the international community contributes to and supports this process,” she said.

Braže added that signing the agreement would make a significant contribution to ensuring security, stability, and prosperity in the South Caucasus.

On August 8, a joint declaration was signed at the White House following a trilateral meeting between Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, U.S. President Donald Trump, and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev.

Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan and Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov initialed an agreement on establishing peace and interstate relations between the two countries in the presence of their leaders and the U.S. president.
