Iran supports Armenia after Israel broadcast controversy

PanARMENIAN.Net - The Iranian Embassy in Armenia commented on an incident during Eurovision in which an Israeli television channel displayed Azerbaijan’s flag instead of Armenia’s.

“No one can display another flag in place of Armenia’s beautiful flag. Armenia is a historic and civilized nation, and Iran has always stood by its side,” the embassy wrote on X.

During the Eurovision Song Contest semifinal, Israeli public broadcaster Kan 11 showed Armenia and Azerbaijan under the same Azerbaijani flag. The incident was reported by Artyom Chernamorian, head of the Nairi Union of Israeli Armenians in Petah Tikva, according to Sputnik Armenia.

Following the broadcast, Armenia’s Public Television requested clarification from Israel’s public broadcaster. The Israeli Public Broadcasting Corporation later issued a public apology.
