Kobakhidze highlights closer ties with neighbors

PanARMENIAN.Net - Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze has emphasized the importance of Georgia's relations with Armenia, Azerbaijan and Turkey, saying closer cooperation with the three neighboring countries is essential to strengthening the country's connectivity and expanding its role as a regional transit hub.

Speaking on the Imedi LIVE program, Kobakhidze said Georgia is implementing major infrastructure projects aimed at improving regional connectivity, Armenpress reported.

According to the prime minister, the government's plan envisions that by 2031 nearly all high-speed highways across the country will be completed, with the exception of one specific section. He added that work is also progressing on railway modernization and capacity expansion.

Kobakhidze said construction of the Anaklia Deep Sea Port is advancing, while infrastructure development is also continuing at Georgia's three international airports.

He said the large-scale infrastructure investments will further strengthen Georgia's transit function.

"These are very substantial infrastructure investments, and all of this will contribute to the further development of our country's transit role. At the same time, we are deepening our relations with the relevant countries in our region and with our neighbors. We have outstanding relations with our three neighboring countries—Armenia, Azerbaijan and Turkey—and this plays a key role in terms of connectivity and transit," Kobakhidze said.
