Turkey eases customs procedures with Armenia

PanARMENIAN.Net - Turkey's Ministry of Trade has introduced a significant technical change to its customs system as part of the Armenia-Turkey normalization process.

According to Sabah journalist Baris Simsek, customs declarations can now directly use Armenia's official country code, "077," when processing imports, exports and transit shipments conducted through third countries, Radar Armenia reported.

The update has already been incorporated into Turkey's BİLGE customs information system.

According to Simsek, Türkiye and Armenia continue to take steps aimed at expanding bilateral trade cooperation. As an example, he pointed to the memorandum signed in May on the joint restoration of the historic Ani Bridge.

Trade turnover between the two countries is currently estimated at $335 million to $350 million, while both sides have set a short-term goal of increasing bilateral trade to $1 billion.
