Deputy minister denies apricot exports to Spain

PanARMENIAN.Net - No apricots have yet been exported from Armenia to Spain, Deputy Economy Minister Arman Khojoyan said in a Facebook post, rejecting reports circulating online on the issue.

"The entire internet is talking about apricots exported to Spain allegedly spoiling in transit. No apricots have yet been exported from Armenia to Spain," Khojoyan wrote.

In recent days, reports had circulated claiming that a shipment of Armenian apricots bound for Spain had spoiled during transportation, prompting widespread discussion online.

Russia has imposed restrictions on imports of several products from Armenia. These include bans on imports of Jermuk mineral water, flowers and certain alcoholic beverages. Restrictions have also been introduced on a number of agricultural products, including tomatoes, cucumbers and strawberries. Since June 2, Russia has restricted the import and transit through the Eurasian Economic Union of cherries, apricots, peaches, plums, grapes and other stone fruits from Armenia. Since June 3, it has also restricted imports of eggplants, potatoes and dried fruits originating from and exported by Armenia.
