Russian State Duma merely unanimously adopted the first reading of law "On Defense"

PanARMENIAN.Net - The autumn session of the Russian State Duma opened in Moscow. Presidential amendments to the law "On Defense" , which relate to the use of Russia's armed forces abroad, were adopted at the first session.



The amendments were adopted in first reading. It was one of the most unprecedented voting in the State Duma. 448 out of 450 deputies voted in favor of allowing the RF president to use rapidly military forces abroad. The amendment to the law "On Defense" states that there can be four reasons of usage of Russia's armed forces abroad.

It is a reflection of the attack of Russia's armed forces deployed outside Russia, a reflection or preventing aggression against another state, the protection of Russian citizens abroad, a fight against terrorist acts and ensuring safety of navigation.



The recognition of independence of Abkhazia and South Ossetia by Russia was taken into account during drafting the law.
