In 2009, SCR carried (through inter-state communications) 27 274 people, 44 per cent more than in 2008, Mr. Khakov said. Meanwhile, the company carried 465 536 passengers within the country, 40 per cent more than last year. "The growth has been achieved thanks to the launch of electric trains, in particular, between Yerevan and Armavir. 300-500 passengers are carried in these direction," he said. The director recalled that traffic has been increased in direction to Shorzha, but SCR has not received the expected level due to weather conditions. According to Mr. Khakov SCR is modernizing the stock of the company, two completely repaired electric trains will be obtained by the SCR by late October. A new winter schedule has been already discussed by the management of the company. Vanadzor-Gyumri railroad will be rehabilitated by winter and fully served by electric trains.
