Marat Khakov: Most of investment funds are directed to SCR infrastructure

SCR is actively working to improve the technology of work, aimed at ensuring traffic safety, Marat Khakov , First Deputy General Director of South Caucasus Railways told a news conference on Friday.



"Over the first 8 months of 2009 169 defects on the railway were registered,  22 per cent less compared to the same period of last year,"  he said.



In 2008 24 derails were registered, while there were 18 instances of jumping the track during 2009. There were 74 cases of damage of locomotives in 2008, while only 40 cases took place this year.

 

Marat Khakov informed journalists, that the bulk of the investments are directed to infrastructure maintenance.

 

According to Marat Khakov, all accidents occurred in the South Caucasus Railway are thoroughly investigated and the company will continue working to prevent both failure of infrastructure and human factors.
