If Azerbaijan ready to war, it would have started it

PanARMENIAN.Net -
If Azerbaijan was really ready for war, it would have started the war, Galust Sahakyan head of the Republican Party of Armenia's parliamentary group told a press conference in Yerevan. According to him, there is a clear position of the OSCE Minsk Group, stated that in case of war, the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan will no longer be discussed and only the issue of self-determination of Nagorno Karabakh would be regarded.

Galust Sahakyan reminded, that Armenia has repeatedly stated that in the Karabakh conflict settlement the status of Nagorno Karabakh is the priority issue for Armenia. "You must first decide the Karabakh's status and only after that to turn to other questions," Sahakian said, adding that Armenia guarantees the security of NKR and the rest should be decided by the Karabakh people, whether they want to join Armenia or not.

The conflict between Nagorno Karabakh and Azerbaijan

The conflict between Nagorno Karabakh and Azerbaijan broke out as result of the ethnic cleansing launched by the Azeri authorities in the final years of the Soviet Union. The Karabakh War was fought from 1991 (when the Nagorno Karabakh Republic was proclaimed) to 1994 (when a ceasefire was sealed by Armenia, NKR and Azerbaijan). Most of Nagorno Karabakh and a security zone consisting of 7 regions are now under control of NKR defense army. Armenia and Azerbaijan are holding peace talks mediated by the OSCE Minsk Group up till now.
