Prohibition of fishing in Lake Sevan is discussedApril 19, 2010 - 16:16 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Armenian Minister of Nature Protection Aram Harutyunyan said that three years are required for Lake Sevan’s reproduction. “Currently, the possibility of fishing prohibition for three years in Lake Sevan is being discussed,” Mr. Harutyunyan told a press conference in the government. According to him, it will allow creating opportunities for fish farms near Lake Sevan to secure the lake’s natural reproduction. The Minister stated that a research of the lake’s ecological system, as well as study of endemic types of fish are planned to be implemented at Sevan. Besides, the Ministry will allocate AMD 7-7.5mln to increase the population of young fish at Sevan national park in 2010.
