May 28 holiday for entire Armenian nation

PanARMENIAN.Net - Armenian officials led by President Serzh Sargsyan attended Sardarapat Memorial May 28 on occasion of proclamation of the First Republic of Armenia.

“I congratulate our citizens on this holiday. Each May 28 we pay tribute to the memory of those who fought for independence and laid the foundation of our country’s sovereignty,” Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan said.

Secretary of the National Security Council Arthur Baghdasaryan added: “We won many victories on battlefield. We bow to the memory of those who died for independence of our motherland.”

Sardarapat Memorial is located in the village of Araks, in the Armavir marz of Armenia. A park in commemoration of the 50th anniversary of the Battle of Sardarapat that took place May 22–26, 1918, was laid out on the spot of the battlefield.
