LIBERTY DEPRIVATION INSTITUTIONS TO SUBORDINATE TO THE MINISTRY OF JUSTICE

PanARMENIAN.Net - Reformatory institutions will be withdrawn from the structure of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and re-subordinated to the Ministry of Justice October 1. There are 15 institutions of deprivation of liberty in the Republic altogether. Cells in Vanadzor and Gumri, colonies in Hrazdan, Nubarashen, Artik and Kosh, colony for women and juvenile in Abovian, central prison hospital in Yerevan, prison in Goris and others are among them. In the words of Chief of Structural Reforms Board of the Ministry of Justice Nikolay Arustamian, the cells of temporary confinement will not be subordinated to the Ministry of Justice yet. The question of the cells of the Ministry of National Security to become subordinate to the Ministry of Justice has not been discussed either. Let us remind that subordination of all investigation cells to the Ministry of Justice is one of the conditions stipulated on Armenia before affiliation to the Council of Europe.
