Vigen Chaldranyan: my films are declaration of love to Yerevan in “Chaldranyan’s style”

PanARMENIAN.Net - Armenian filmmaker Vigen Chaldranyan said that he is often asked why he shoots films.

“The matter is that I can be perfectly frank only in cinema, as a perfectly frank man in life must be crazy. I am always nervous before the screening of my films, as it seems to me that I appear naked before the audience,” Chaldranyan told a press conference on the sidelines of Golden Apricot International Film Festival.

Chaldranyan characterized his Maestro film as declaration of love to Yerevan and Armenia in “Chaldranyan’s style.”

He noted that he has gained independence, what is of keen importance for him. “There is no politics in my films; I am neither an ally of the authorities, nor an opposition representative. And nobody can tell me what to do,” he said, adding that thanks to this he considers himself to be a happy man.

“Prizes are not important for me. Maybe, they mattered when I was young, but now the time’s award if much more important for me,” the Armenian filmmaker concluded.
